    Americas Unnecessary Energy Crisis

It?s my belief that if it was not for mistaken left wing politics the US could be a comparative utopia compared to what it has become. In this article I would like to restrict myself to the energy aspects of the problems created by the left. It?s not that conservatives have exactly been doing what was necessary to solve our energy problems either, but I see the real blame coming from mistaken left wing thinking. Let?s go back to say 1970 and examine what we should have done differently starting then.

First, we should have invested in and built a nuclear grid capable of supplying power for residential and commercial purposes, and capable of powering an electric transportation grid. Had we done this we could have become completely independent of foreign oil by the year 2,000. We would be using clean, efficient, and abundant nuclear energy. Almost zero CO2, no global warming, no air pollution, and all the energy we needed.

Currently, generation IV nuclear power plants are being designed. We should have invested more and sooner in these new technologies. This new generation of power plants improves disposal issues by reusing fuel. This also solves the fuel supply issue. The Chinese have already contracted with Westinghouse to build at least 4 AP1000 nuclear plants, and they are now ahead of us in implementing this vital technology. The plants offer several advantages over previous generations of nuclear power including that they are ?non proliferation? and do not require refueling for 30 years. The plants include ?passive safety? which means they shut down without human intervention if necessary, (which is supposed to be exceedingly unlikely). The plant design is much smaller and simple compared to previous generations.

Second, we should be using alternative modes of transportation. I see a world where transportation occurs without dependence on oil. I envision using electric: motorcycles, cars, trucks and trains, and supplementing this with ultralight aircraft and even larger aircraft such as the Aeroscraft. It?s a complete solution that could be implemented with technology available since before 1970.

My thesis of why we have not yet made these changes is that the left corruptly avoids actual solutions to problems that form core components of their political agenda. This is a key idea. It?s sort of like oil companies that supposedly block the production of electric cars. The left doesn?t want a solution because they want to mandate regulations. They want to be in charge of businesses and enforce an eco-lifestyle. They want endless cadres of bureaucrats deciding on how energy is to be used, and they want to be able to blame ?wasteful businesses? and ?big oil?. Controlling energy is an important component of the left wing agenda. Nuclear power solves the problem which means it puts the left out of power. How can they mandate a lifestyle and complain about business when the problems are solved? The ?green people? don?t really want endless free inexpensive clean energy. That would end their lifestyle. (Sorry greenies I agree with you on some issues but it?s true.)

I have long noticed the hypocrisy of the left as they drive their SUV?s to work and then do some relatively insignificant thing like recycling a water bottle. They send their chosen elites off in airplanes to go to conferences on global warming. Whatever they do they don?t really solve the problems their so concerned about. They could drive gas powered motorcycles using little fuel that have been available since the beginning of the last century, and they don?t even appear to know about electric motorcycles, but if they did they wouldn?t endorse them because its not a form of centralized mass transportation.

My own view is that all the regulations and alternative energy strategies of the left are not really effective at solving any of our energy problems. But I really don?t think it?s a solution to energy problems that they are after. Again it?s more like a political lifestyle. Nuclear energy offers all the things they supposedly believe in no CO2, no oil, and inexpensive abundant energy produced by mother nature. But instead of favoring it the left and the greenies are busy claiming that nuclear energy is not a renewable energy source. They create their mother-nature concept ?renewable energy?. Does it have a definition? Is it something that works in a cycle? Breeder reactors can create their own fuel. For me that?s good enough, and it?s better than covering half the planet with corn fields.

Critics of nuclear energy point out disposal issues. They make uneducated or manipulative statements like ?do you want to store nuclear waste in your backyard?? The fact is a given families share of the nuclear waste would be immeasurably insignificant and wouldn?t compare, for example, to their share of exposure to pollution from a coal plant. New generation IV plants and disposal methods go a long ways towards solving these waste issues.

NORM stands for naturally occurring radioactive materials, for example, radon exposure in homes built in granite ground. The fact is that NORM accounts for 10,000 times more exposure than nuclear power plants do. (Personally I think it?s more but I didn?t do the math.) In fact coal production also leads to the release of radioactive materials. So does the making and using of fertilizers. The fertilizers used in corn fields used to produce ethanol create radioactive waste. I would guess many more magnitudes worse per Joule of useable energy produced as compared to nuclear energy production. So why does the left prefer ethanol and not nuclear? Because its part of their larger energy solution: Endless hordes of bureaucrats trying to mandate a lifestyle and getting paid to do it.

I would like to point out this is not necessarily an attack on alternative energy as it is on the refusal of the left to endorse an obvious solution: nuclear energy. In addition as explained I favor a variety of energy saving ideas everything from electric motos to LED lighting. Combining these ideas there is no reason we should be using any foreign oil.

    Using Fossil Fuels

Fossil fuels are a natural but non renewable source fuels or organic compounds made of hydrogen and carbon that develop thru the natural decomposition of plants and animals over thousands of years. The fuels are used in three forms petroleum oil, natural gas and coal, the most plentiful fossil fuel. They are inexpensive, easy to mine, storable and readily available but only for an estimated 60 years. A clean renewable source or sources must replace fossil fuel dependence.

Forms of fossil fuel provide us with almost all of our electricity, gasoline and heat in colder climates, the problem is that Earth?s crude oil supply is limited and nonrenewable. Crude oil takes millions of years to develop under extreme conditions and can not be synthetically fabricated or recreated. Existing gas station and highway infrastructures are literally built around the distribution of petroleum oil or gas for cars. Because of the immense span of this system a replacement fuel must be designed to work with our current fossil fuel based infrastructure or the expense of a complete new one becomes a financially daunting, huge construction project.

In addition to being non-renewable and difficult tricky to replace at the pumps, fossil fuels are responsible for massive environmental damage. Car and plane emissions contribute to global climate change, acid rain and ozone layer depletion. As the Middle East has the biggest supply of natural fossil fuels, shipping it across the ocean has in the past has lead to massive oil spills which can have a major detrimental effect on ocean and animal life.

Our massive dependence on foreign oil causes a very tense competitive trading environment where the U.S. has no control of the price of oil or the amounts available. If we do not run out first we could reenter a national fuel crisis if foreign sources refuse to supply or trade with us because of politics. The duration of our use of fossil fuels is therefore dependant on our trading relations with oil rich areas like Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iran and Iraq. A cutting off of the supply already occurred in the ?Mideast Oil Crisis? of the 1970?s and next time we need to be prepared. Crude oil reserves will last, at best sixty more years and only half of that time if our supply from the Middle East is terminated before it is completely depleted. Nuclear energy power plants are again under construction to maintain power and heat to homes. This generation will see the end of our fossil fuels supply if we are ready or not. Hopefully together we can safely transition to alternatives rather than panic as we literally run out of gas.

As awareness arises, children and adults are encouraged, sometimes through government grants and carpool lanes to walk, ride bikes or carpool together to work or school to conserve our precious fossil fuel supply. Thousands of new green jobs are on the stage for creation and must be seized with innovation and enthusiasm to encourage sustainable and renewable fuel sources for future generations. While environmental education provides incentive for some, others will be encouraged to lessen use of fossil fuels and reduce carbon emissions for monetary reasons. Many insist on a tax of fossil fuel to subsidize clean energy. Kyoto, informally known as the Earth Summit is an international environmental treaty intended to achieve worldwide stabilization of greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere at a level that would prevent dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate system. The time for a change from fossil fuel is a number one worldwide issue best approached with quick action and innovation and with a clean and green, alternative fuel powered tomorrow in our minds? eye.

How Feasible Are Current Renewable Energy Products?

Without even being aware of it, more and more consumers have replaced their energy monsters to environmental friendly appliances. Even automobile companies have long marketed energy efficient cars. From fuel efficient cars, hybrid cars and even hydro powered cars. What else could these companies come up with? For sure it would be even better than the big fuel consuming automobiles that we have in the market. If every car owner in the planet would give up their old modeled automobiles to fuel efficient or hydro powered or even hybrid cars just imagine how much it would decrease the amount of green house gases in the atmosphere. It costs a bit more than regular cars but we sure know that some of the hottest celebrities have been conscious enough to buy his adult member of his family an eco friendly car.

Environmentalist movements are doing every renewable company in the world a favor by openly propagating and advertising clean energy together with sustainable future. In collaboration with different media providers around the globe, renewable energy marketing would be a breeze without shelling out a single cent on it. Campaigns reached several thousands of citizens positively creating a huge trend on both big and small establishments to go green. Sustainable energy companies should take this opportunity to enter the global market. The trends of reverting to clean energy should make it easy for any green energy company to advertise their products.

Small scale energy users have found comfort in the use of renewable energy. Take for example independent taxi owners in the metro. Those owners who have converted their cars to be bio fuel compatible say that they are seeing better days rather than using conventional gasoline. Simple sustainable energy solutions like this can really boost a green energy to innovate more energy conserving ways. Where have they heard such idea? Surely this idea didn’t just fall off from the sky.

Sustainable energy marketing favors the demand for energy. Technology advances and evolves but not our source of energy. There are more ways in preserving the environment other than conserving energy. Demands for ecology friendly home appliances and fixtures grows that renewable energy marketing expanded horizons even for other market. Clean energy solutions should be able to make energy consumption a worry free experience.

Mass production means cheaper products. Of course it is just right that when the technology is newly available in the market it would be priced frantically. Then over the years since the technology would be widely available. Since many other manufacturing company has learned how to do produce the same product at the fraction of a price. Same goes for renewable energy products. In Great Britain, the first time Solar Panels were introduced was a whopping ?9,000 now a better functioning Solar panel would only hold back the household for only ?1,000. Homes have replaced most of their lighting fixtures to energy saving fluorescent bulbs. It does its job well and is energy efficient.
