Build Solar And Wind Power System For Your Home

With summer coming, you know you can expect sky-high electric bills. Want to lower your electric bills by tens of hundreds of dollars this summer? You can build your own solar power system and wind power system for your home and see your electric bills drop dramatically. There is no better way to show respect for your environment than by using alternative forms of electricity, and many of these alternate energy products also come with an added tax credit for purchasing them.

Using solar power or wind power is the wave of the future. By capturing these natural resources, you can not only cool and heat your home cheaply; you are also conserving the earth’s resources. A solar power system is non-polluting and its main source of energy, the sun, is plentiful and readily available – for free! Wind is another resource that can generate energy that is like solar power – free and non-polluting. Green energy can help you protect both the environment and your wallet.

Because there are so many benefits to solar power and wind power, a contractor or installer will want to charge you hundreds of thousands of dollars to get the benefits of a solar powers system or wind power system for the home. But you can easily and for less money install a solar and wind power system for your home. It’s not hard to set up your own solar and wind system, and whether you want to move off grid entirely, or only supplement your power, it’s quite easy to set up a system that works for you.

First, you have to make or purchase solar panels. There are different types of solar panels available to deliver solar power to your home. For example, there are different wattages based on how much power you need. Solar panels are the most expensive part of the your solar power system. But there are ways that you can make them cheaply. Additionally, they are essentially the only expense. After you get your solar panels and install them, you will have a complete solar power system and will begin to save money for the life of the panels, which can be many years. The sun doesn’t cost you a dime, but it will certainly save you plenty of them.

Other expenses related to your solar power system are minimal. You will also need to build a box to hold the solar panels. This can be done with inexpensive wood, particle board or other type of durable substance. Additionally, you will want to secure your solar panels to protect them from the elements. They are the most expensive part of your solar power system.

Wind power systems will operate in a similar manner. By capturing the wind, you can also harness mother nature to lower your bills. With wind power, you will need a wind turbine or windmill. While wind is a great source of energy, often people find that a combination of solar power and wind power is optimal to deliver electricity to your home all year long.

Everyone is watching their bills in these economic times. With a small amount of money and a little hard work, you can save thousands on your electric bills by installing a solar power system or a wind power system. By utilizing what mother nature has to offer, you can not only save money, but contribute to the green energy revolution. Instead of being concerned about the planet when you turn on the lights in your home, start feeling good about your electrical source. With wind energy and solar energy you can feel confident that you are protecting the earth.

Indeed, there are several benefits that we can realize when using alternative energy. Of course you will need to make a certain investment on special equipment ? you either purchase them or you can make one. Once you have the right apparatus, you will realize that you will no longer have to purchase electricity ever again because you can already generate your own.

Once you are able to sufficiently generate power for your home, you will not be far from having excess electricity. So what will happen to the surplus energy? You can sell them back to your local utility! Clean energy is something that power plants find hard to refuse. With alternative energy, you do not only have cost savings, you also have a source of added income.

The benefits of alternative energy are not only limited for home use. We can also use alternative energy on our vehicles. Being able to produce our own clean fuel can impact the amount of oil that we import from other countries. In the long run, this will also have significant effects on our economy, especially on consumer prices. Using clean bio diesel on our cars will also help us save the energy because we will be able to reduce the amount of contaminants that are being released into the air that we breathe.

With the surging oil prices and the various threats to our environment, it is indeed time for us to change how we look at burning fossil fuel and start looking into alternative energy sources. These are only a few of the benefits of alternative energy and most of them underscore cost savings. Who knows what other advantages lie beneath these clean energy sources.

Peak Oil: Does America Have Sustainable Power?

Peak Oil: Does America Have Sustainable Power?

We are living in a tumultuous world. We are experiencing an economic downturn, and the way things look right now, it seems this ?recession? may even be greater than the great depression. The war as they say is the cause. The budget deficit for 2008 was over $400,000,000. This money certainly would have been put to better use within America itself.

    The ?Conspiracy? Theory

Most people will are of the opinion that the president of the United States waged war on Iraq country due to oil; America after all is one of the world?s largest consumer of this scarce natural resource. Everything in the US is automated, or electrical. To run machines you need oil products, to produce high demands of electricity you need millions of barrels of oil to run the generators.

It is not preposterous to believe that the U.S, whose reliance on Middle Eastern oil is immense, has vested interest in acquiring a country so rich in black gold. First of all it will make oil sources available anytime they want without having to bother with diplomacy and pass through another government. Second more profit for the American oil corporations, because if they can get fossil fuel at cost then they will have more earnings. The theory makes sense and could very much be possible.

    Sustainable Power Resources

We are not here to discuss political and personal issues. All I want to do is to point out that there are other faces in this picture. Yes, America is one of the world?s largest energy consumers, but it also has the largest alternative energy resources in the World.

    Geothermal, Hydro, Wind and etc

The United States of America is considered as the world?s greatest geothermal energy producer. The Geysers located just north of San Francisco are the planet?s first and largest dry steam fields. The amazing thing about these power plants -since there are several- is that sewage waste from surrounding cities are pumped into the geothermal plant in order to replenish the supply of steam needed for energy production. States such as Nevada, Oregon, Idaho, Arizona, and Utah have their own geothermal plants.

Considered the fourth country with the largest hydropower capacity, the U.S has revolutionized hydropower by building numerous dams in highly planned areas all across the country. Definitely, the most popular is the Hoover Dam. At the time it was fully operational Hoover Dam was said to be the world?s largest electricity generating hydropower plant. The Hoover dam supplies electricity to the states of Nevada, Arizona and most of Southern California.

Rock Port, Missouri is a city in North America which is fully powered by wind farms. Of the 50 states in America, over half have wind farms which help supply their electricity needs. Some states may have aesthetic issues, but wind farms will definitely become essential in the future especially when the impact of declining oil supplies from the Middle East is felt.

    Conclusion

The United States have their own oil resources right within their backyards. There are new and promising sites in Texas and just off shore from New Orleans. And then there is a lot of excitement around the ?Bakken Formation? in the States of Montana and the Dakotas. But one thing remains obvious, fossil fuel as an energy source is not viable for human health and the future of our environment. If you?re still asking why the American government is waging war for oil? Maybe it?s not just oil after all. Perhaps, there is a more deeper and nefarious plan at work, a peace crusade with a sword in hand, but not to accomplish peace, rather to expand power and?

Go Off Grid…Your Very Own Renewable Energy

The Sun and Wind Your Only Choices

There are legitimate reasons to go off grid. Anyone who lives in very rural or remote areas, knows to well about the advantages and disadvantages of going off grid. The costs of local utilities are so high, in most cases it is not a question of going green but rather a purely financial one. Whatever your reason for researching off grid power, your options have now turned green. Solar and/or wind energy are the only options available in this case. Your best bet is solar, unless the area you are looking into is a windy one. Even in that case, I still recommend that solar power be your main source of off grid energy.? Did you know that the small amount that hits your roof, greatly surpasses all the energy that is transported through the utility company electric wires? That is the reason many people who have? switched over to solar power, either go off grid, or sell back to the utility companies for a profit. It is for that reason, installation of a proper system can more than handle all your electricity needs.

There is a reason I prefer solar to wind, when it comes to household energy requirements. Both solar panels and wind turbine rotors are considered to be a form of a collector. Naturally one can see that the area of just one solar panel is much greater than the surface of a small wind rotor with a number of blades? that rotate to turn the electrical generator. While both offer a renewable non- polluting source of energy, it should be noted that solar? has no moving parts to break down, and requires very little maintenance. To properly access? wind flow and generate enough electricity, wind turbines are installed on high towers that rise above any trees or surrounding buildings. It is advisable to get your neighbors permission before installing such a structure. For whatever reason you chose not to have a high enough tower, it won?t matter when it comes to generating adequate energy. It is better not to install a wind turbine in the first place, rather than to not have it high enough. There is simply little energy in low winds that you can convert into usable electricity.

    The Sun Will Always Shine

Off Grid Solar Is the Future
Today we are finally realizing that the future of the Earth depends on weaning mankind off of petroleum and other fossil fuels. Here is another fact that will astound you. The entire total of? fossil fuels on Earth can be matched by the solar energy output of the sun on Earth, in less than three days. It is not politics and greed alone that has kept us from pursuing solar energy until recent times. The technology for home solar has greatly improved.? It started in the mid 1970’s, with the advancements in Photovoltaic applications. Photovoltaic, also referred to as PV, is according to? Wikipedia, the field of technology and research related to the application of solar cells for energy by converting solar energy (sunlight, including ultra violet radiation) directly into electricity. The development of transistor and accompanying semiconductor technology, has drastically? increased photovoltaic power and efficiency.? Today, commonly available solar panels are 12% efficient, which is four times greater than only a few years ago.

Another very important aspect is that contrary to most contractors? misconception it is not a difficult installation. An average home has more than enough roof area to produce enough solar electricity to supply all of its power needs. All that is needed is an inverter,? which converts direct current (DC) power from the solar cells to alternating current (AC), which are what most home appliances run on. A solar home, except for the obvious changes to the roof, will look and operate just like any home does when it was connected to the power line.

Let the Sun Free You From the Grid

    Do-It- Yourself and Save
There is another misconception that needs clearing up. You should know is that contrary to popular belief, residential solar installation is very affordable. You don?t need to hire a builder or solar contractor, which could run you tens of thousands of dollars. With the correct instruction and guidance you can do-it-yourself. You must be careful however, because many instructional books and guides are? confusing and have complicated diagrams. So before getting started you must find the correct step-by-step instructions. You don’t need to be a builder.? Anybody can make solar panels. It’s really quite easy to make solar panels once you know a few industry secrets. You must make sure that the guide you chose has step by step instruction, detailed diagrams, plenty of pictures and video teaching aids.

So how much will it actually cost to make your own solar panels?? You can, with the right instruction, build your solar panels for less than $200 each. I suggest that if you don?t have the time or you?re just not willing to put in the effort, you can hire a couple of competent handy men to implement the project, and still save thousands. Real people, not corporations, have come up with efficient and extremely affordable programs that walk you through step by step instructions, on how to build and install renewable energy for your home.

My own extensive research has helped me narrow down the best of the best instructional guides, complete with blueprints, photos, and in the case of my number one choice, video for that do-it-yourself solar power and/or wind turbine project you might be considering. Obviously, I can?t go into great detail in this article, but if I have piqued your interest, you can get all the facts of this or many other ideas on how to go green at my site? Possibly GREEN. There you?ll find the right ways to live a greener life, including information on how to convert your car inexpensively, and even find green jobs in your area.
